Are you buying any painted toys for your kids?

Paul McBride asked:

Now that there is another recall on toys made in China I have stopped purchasing any toys that are painted since most toys are made in China and they have totally lost control as regards the safety of the products coming out of that country. For now I am trusting all plastic but I wouldn´t be surprised to hear that these toys could also end up being suspect.

No. I’ve stopped buying products that I know are made in China. However, after the recent Fisher-Price recall, I purchased three Thomas & Friends LEGO sets for my nephew from the company’s website. These are not subject to the earlier recall of painted wooden railway toys distributed by RC2 Corp. I did not discover until the toys arrived that some of the components included in each of the sets are made in China. I’m undecided now whether I will give these toys to my nephew when I visit him during the Labor Day holiday. The toys also contain pieces made in Denmark, Hungary and the Czech Republic. I’ve always trusted LEGO, but the recent recall announcements by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have left me wondering what the heck is going on. Like you, I fear that we may someday learn that various plastic toys and parts manufactured in China are also defective and potentially dangerous to children. It’s maddening to think that in this age we have to deal with such concerns. The Chinese government and all the American companies involved in these recent recall notices should be ashamed.

the only toy recall ive seen is by mattel. A lot of people are blaming China as a whole, but it was the company. There are a lot of toys, painted or not that pose a possbile threat to children. Just buy your toys smartly, and if you’re that bothered, do research before making your purchaces.
