Hi. We are going on a flight with the kids with all the regular handheld toys. Almost all of which require a screwdriver or mini-screwdriver to take off the back of the battery cover. Any tips of what else can be used that can be brought on the plane in your carry on bag? Thanks!

Don’t have screws very tight. *use a coin, *plastic ware from first class,*or small key to your suitcase lock. I am an airline employee and i do believe you can bring one of those tiny eyeglass repair ***** drivers on board the aircraft. If for some reason the T.S.A. Screener doesn’t allow it make no fuss and let them discard it.No big deal ,no harm done. But again those tiny eyeglass repair kits are allowed.

Fresh batteries. Unless you’re flying to Australia from Philadelphia, I can imagine the batteries will give out. Or, go to Home Depot and replace the battery compartment screws with the finger screws you find on the back of most computers to tighten cables.

You can buy a small screwdriver at most places where they sell guns and rifles, even Walmart.
It is round, the size of a silver dollar and has 4 tabs on it 90 degrees apart, being different sizes of tips. They usually have a small beaded chain on them, and are used for adjusting gun sights.
Throw it on your key ring.

You can bring on a small screwdriver. New regs now permit most items under 4″ on board.
Of course you can run into the usual ignorant TSA agent who may want to confiscate your things and keep them.
Option 2: loosen the ***** and use some tape to hold the battery cover in place, then just pull and reseal.
The list of items you can carry on board is located at:
you will notice that eyeglass repair tools are allowed.

why not leave the screws loose enough to undo by finger nail. Or use the tip of finger nail clippers, the small file.
To be sure the screws do not come out, just place tape over each until ready to change
