My kids toys recalled due to lead.I’m scared! What now?

Mrs.Eve asked:

I just read that 6 of my children’s toys have been recalled due to lead. I know this is harmful to people’s health. My kids have the figure plastic toys for Blues Clues and Dora and they put them in their mouth all the time, even chew on them. Now I am scared that their health might be affected. I heard lead can cause cancer. The Mattel company is reimbursing us, but who cares about this money? They don’t mention a word about what this might have already caused to our children’s health. Does anyone know what kind of effects this might bring in the future?
My kids are already in bed by now, but tomorrow when they wake up these toys will not be around.
What should I do next?

My son’s Thomas trains were affected by a similar recall about a month ago. Yeah, it’s scary to think there may have been lead in the toys but I don’t think you need to freak out about it. Prolonged exposure to lead can cause cancer - being around a few toys that may have contained traces of lead in the paint should be nothing to worry about.

Read pathophysiology on the website below to see the effects that the consumption of lead can have on children. It mainly effects the brain, but can cause developmental difficulties, brain deficiency, etc. Just research with these keywords:
lead toxicity children symptoms. There are some chelating products on the market that help remove the lead from the body but I have tried some of them and have found them harsh to my digestive system and they made me feel yukky and most of them did not help reduce the levels fast enough - I had very high levels of mercury in my system. The product I found that helped me within 30 days was a nighttime suppository named Detoxamin (it is easier for children to tolerate also in a suppository so there is no irritation to the stomach) that is composed of EDTA-CA - a chelator that most doctors want to give as an IV. The IV’s took hours and lots of trips did not relieve the levels in my body fast enough so I researched on my own. I don’t know the name of the company but you can order direct - keyword: detoxamin. Be sure to give your kids extra vitamins and especially minerals during chelation (calcium, magnesium, zinc, etc.) since the chelation will also leech the good minerals while taking out the toxic metals. That is what I did and my toxic metals are all in a normal range now. The suppositories do not cost near as much as IV chelation and the results I had proved that it worked better. Good luck I am so sorry that you are going thru this.

If you’re really worried about it, you can take them to the doc and request a heavy metals test, specifically for lead. This entails a blood draw, but it’ll at least tell you a definate answer!

There is nothing you can do besides remove all toys you know were recalled and pray for the best. Get the testing done for lead poisoning with a BLOOD test within the next few months so that IF there is any positive reading, or possible damage, you can get the best on going care for your children in the future.

You also may want to keep those toys put away in a plastic bin or somewhere, and try to find a printable list online so that you have evidence in a lawsuit should one come about.

    1. Take the kids to see the family doctor, make sure their health are alright. Perform lead poison test.
    2. May be time to ask Mattel to paid for the doctor bills.
