We had a project that needed to be complete; it would include the purchase of a new bed. Our search would focus on a new loft bed to place in my teen’s room. Though you have many other options when it comes to bed for some reason the bed with desk was on the top of the list. Not only would it look great, but it would have many wonderful functions.
See with that desk he would be able to study in his room in peace. Instead of having to sit in the kitchen to study and being interrupted by people walking through. Since his old bed was past the point of use, a new loft beds with desk seemed like the perfect choice.
Not only would it save on room in his smaller room, but with that desk it was an added extra we loved. The size of the desk would be important though, see it needed to be able to fit his computer, and still give him room to write too.
There were many sizes of desks that would come with these beds and some were just too small. While others would take up a larger portion of the room. Plus the fact that we had a fairly small budget played a big part in the plan. See we wanted to replace the bed and redo the room a bit for his age.
Comparing the beds brought up another problem though. We would need to decide what kind of frame we wanted the bed to have. Either a metal frame or a wooden frame, but not just one type of wood either. There were a lot of decisions for the different woods that these beds were made from.
Now we were faced with deciding what kind of material we wanted the frame made from. You have metal frames, and wooden frames. Of the wood frames you have many types that were used too. But the main idea was to find the best inexpensive option and one that would last for a long time.
Because this was a change that we wanted to carry him through the rest of high school, and perhaps a bit beyond. Now we had many choices and we were getting close on the final choice of bed to place in the room. It was between one metal framed bed with a nice desk, and another made from oak.
Since we had to place the loft bed with desk up and construct it ourselves, we were happy it turned out to be quite simple. Now the room looks great and he can study easily in it on the desk.
