Where can i find good puzzle toys for my dog?

Well, I have a smart little doggie, and she’s very easily bored with the toys she has right now. She’s a shepard collie cross, and, to my dismay, she’s already mastered how to get treats out of Kong toys. Right now, I’m keeping her occupied with an oddly shaped treat inside of a plastic water bottle .

So, if anyone knows some other toys I could get for her, that would be awesome. Even better, would be links to where I can purchase these items online.

Thanks a bunch everyone!

    * When my shepherds got bored I would play hide and seek with them! Hide any of their toys and they go hunt them down! Fun and funee!

I would try Wal-Mart. I’d just get one of the big foam puzzels for little kids. Sorry, but that’s all I can think of unless you live net door to a huge pet store. .

There is a rubber, ball you can get at any pet store (petco, petsmart) that has different shaped holes in it. You can put different sized treats in it. She would have to pick it up and bounce it hard to get it out or else squeeze the ball to break up the cookies inside. It’s very entertaining to watch. Another thing you can do with the kongs is get really creative with it. Example: Put different layers of forced carrots, meats then some gravy, then some more solid treats that she likes then the top layer, some more gravy. Then freeze it (makes sure it’s positioned in a way that it’s not going to leak. When it’s good and frozen give it to her. Should keep her occupied for a while. Highly doubt it will get anywhere except in her mouth but if your worried about it getting messy put her outside with it! Hope I helped.

My dogs LOVE plastic water bottles and so do I! I first used them when I was in a state that recycled them and I taught the dogs to take any of my empty bottles to the recycle bins and then they come back and I gave them a treat… that soon backfired as when they ran out of the empties from me, they figured out how to get the ones out of the recycle bin, plant them in various areas and ‘retrieve’ them for a treat again… duh… boy was I used!!

They have the various little balls that you can put kibble or treats in where you can give them interesting things to do — check on the pet catalog sites… there is also a site from Kong that shows various treat suggestions including freezing stuff in them and putting different things in there to get out… peanut butter.. mmmmmmmmmm Just do an internet search on dog toys and you will get lots of links :)
add: OH yes!! The GSD person up there with the hidden toy thing… that is GREAT fun for them and you can actually train her to search and find — can be helpful in the future if you loose things :) I did that with dogs before where I would take their favorite toy and hide it in cushions, behind furniture, even once in a cabnet behind the stair case rise and the dog leaned over the stairs and went around the wall and got it - I had actually put it there to stop the play and get it out of his reach but obviously he outsmarted me! This was a couple of days later… he knew it was there, contemplated it and finally figured out a way to get it…

Smart dogs do get easily bored! Check out this link for some really sturdy (ie indestructable) dog toys that should keep her entertained.

There’s the Tug a Jug which sounds similar to the treat in a bottle idea that you’re using now - it just has the added fun of a sturdy rope and ‘plug’ to pull and chew on. There’s also the Buster Cube that you can fill with treats. Take a look, you’ll find several to fit the bill I’m sure.

    Have fun!

We’ve got the tug a jug. The dogs like it, but will just sit and chew the rope when they are tired.
