Riley asked:
Their are so many recalled toys out their right now. What are some safe toys that can be bought for kids between the ages of 1 and 6? Does anyone know of companies (in any area) that sell ONLY made in the USA toys??
Thanks alot.

There are some specialty toy stores that sell only American
or “safe” toys. I’d recommend books, though, as they are usually “safe” and can help children of all ages learn how to appreciate that often neglected skill of reading. Getting the kids gift cards from some of the major book stores can be an additional treat, as you can take them shopping after christmas and find out what they’re interested in. You can start a great Christmas tradition, and add to your home library books that will still be in style years down the road. That’s the direction we’ve taken for our 21 grandchildren, and we feel that it’s not only a gift - but an investment in their future.

Any wooden toys made in the USA are safe. But good luck finding any. They are all made in China.

Toys made in the USA are pretty rare. Wooden unit blocks are made in the US. Maple Landmark makes wooden train letters. Fractiles- a magnetic design toy for 6+
Try European made toys .You can try Lego or Duplo blocks for the younger ones or Playmobil. Haba makes some blocks and pull toys. Ravensburger makes great puzzles and games.
Your best bet is to stay away from toy in the mass market. This is usually where most recalls are generated from. Stick with specialty store items. Try shopatron to find items

Buy classic toys like Lego, Playdoh, Crayons and colouring books, Rock A Stacks etc…Or as an alternative try Books and board games, you can never go wrong with board games especially for bigger families.

It’s pretty hard to find a toy not made in china–haba and selecta are good wooden toys made in germany…bruder is a german-made vendor that sells plastic vehicles (trucks and such).
It’s quite hard to avoid chinese-made toys, but there are ways to assure safety. The biggest teller of safety is the safety certification, which is on the box of every toy. Look for toys that are marked with CE.
CE means Certified European. The Europeon Union has much more strict standards on toy safety than the US, due in large part to more acceptance of government intervention of business. Certified european toys are a very sure way to get avoid any unsafe toys.
